About Us
Jaqkodí is an emerging womenswear brand based in Hackney, East London, founded by independent designer Lois Jacques Sarkodie; a Royal College of Art MA Fashion student and one of only two selected Max Mara Scholars.
Rooted in storytelling and expression, the brand is entering a new chapter, one defined by Feminine Harmony and curated sustainable wardrobes. Built on the belief that fashion is a feeling, not a trend, Jaqkodí designs pieces that move with the wearer; emotionally and seasonally. The brand favours core sustainable materials that reflect the rhythms of life: leather and wool in winter, suede and cotton in summer, always with intention, never excess.
Collaborations:
Jaqkodi X Spring Studios: Fashion Film
Jaqkodi X Commons (Old Street Works): Poetry Evening + Silent Headphone Film Screening
A note from Lois:
My journey into fashion began in secondary school, where exploring textiles and pattern cutting sparked my imagination. Seeing my dedication, my mother gifted me a second-hand sewing machine in 2019 for my 16th birthday.
Jaqkodí expresses my inner truth. Jaqkodí stands as a platform to embody the nuances of femininity. Most womenswear brands simplify femininity, catering either to the independent woman or the “damsel in distress.” This ignores the multifaceted nature of femininity, suggesting independence and vulnerability cannot coexist - an idea I aim to challenge. My designs are inspired by human biology and Genesis’s first portrayal of woman: free to walk the garden, express herself and embody both strength and vulnerability.
Beyond product, I envision a community where women can gather together for making a path for the women in the middle. I also aim to make sustainability more accessible through our sewing sustainability workshops, where I teach Friends of Jaqkodí how to extend the life of their garments by Reimagining and Restoring their wardrobe.
